Happy Easter! The grave is empty, Jesus has risen! What an incredible Saviour we have!
Today we are experiencing Easter differently. No one thought that we would be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ whilst enduring a pandemic and isolated in our homes. Yet even on this day thousands of years ago the disciples acclaimed God's victory even in the midst of persecution and trials. We will always have troubles but today we celebrate that Jesus has overcome them all. John 16:33 "In this world you will have trouble, but take heart for I have overcome the world!" As part of our worship and joy this day we have created a fun Easter game. To find out the winner of our Easter Bingo challenge visit our facebook page @Immanuel Simcoe CRC. We hope you enjoyed recalling the Easter events through this game. Happy Easter everyone! The Hebrew word “hoshi’a na,” is translated in Greek as “(h)osanna.” In English, we know it as “hosanna.” In the Old Testament we read this as a plea, meaning “Save us, please!” (Psalm 118:25). Yet throughout translations and edits this word has come to mean a proclamation of salvation!
In this time of global crisis where we are experiencing sadness, fear and anger, we believe these two definitions of Hosanna can help us fix our hearts and minds on Christ Jesus, our Lord who has already won the victory over death and the grave but also the one who continues to hear our pleas. On Sunday April 5 as an action of praise, a symbol of faith, and a prayer for the many affected by the Corona virus, we placed our palm leaves in our window as a representation of our 'Hosanna' worship. To share the victory we have in Jesus and spread His message of hope further please send your photo's of your palm creatives to [email protected] to be displayed on our facebook page.
